He hums under his breath, then remembering he has to get his trousers off over it. He leans a shoulder against the wall so he can lift some weight off that foot and peel the leather over the wound. In the stark light of the bathroom, it looks worse than he thought. Not too deep, just a long slash through a thin layer of fat. No sliver of muscle peeking through.
"It could use a good bandaging, but no stitches," he says. "It should be quick."
It's usually difficult not to kiss him, but the filth around his mouth is a good deterrent. She moves his head from one hand to the other as she wipes his skin clean, smiling at how handsome he is, and how entirely hers he is.
It’s soothing to be held by her, and it calms the growing need to be by her, to be in her, to press himself so close to her they might become one. He hums.
“I have an idea,” he says. “I hope you’ll like it.”
"I love you as you are. I wouldn't want you to be a whole different man," she tells him, smiling before tipping his head up so she can scrub his neck. She likes seeing his throat.

"No, thank you," she says. "I will do my best to be gentle. Especially with your thigh. I still want to look at it."

“In the tub, then.”

“Will we refresh it before you join me, then?”
no subject
"I will. Of course," she smiles. "You've gotten me filthy, too."
Just not nearly as bad as he is.

“I’ll buy you a new dress,” he promises.

“Are there any rules?”
no subject
"Rules? I wasn't aware I needed them. Should there be?"

She smiles as she wipes his face, thorough and careful around his eyes. His scar and beard require a little more attention.

"I'll bring you something. I promise."
no subject
"Oh, a promise. Now I'm excited."

"I'm sure I will. You know me. I think," she adds playfully.

“I should hope so,” he says. “I know where not to tread… I hope.”

“I wish confidence came easily in all things. I would be a different man, I think.”
